In October 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "guidance on further strengthening the construction of new energy vehicle safety system" (draft for comment) clearly pointed out that the power battery safety level should be improved, the safety boundary of power battery use should be clarified, and the safety protection ability of power battery in the state of collision, vibration, extrusion, charging and discharging abnormalities should be improved. The establishment of a hidden vehicle inspection mechanism, for the existence of batch safety problems of the model, should immediately take the initiative to recall; vehicle fire and combustion, suspected of loss of control and other safety accidents, should be submitted in accordance with the relevant requirements of the vehicle accident data, accident analysis reports, etc.
China is making the establishment of safety standards for power batteries a priority to ensure the healthy development of new energy vehicles in the future, and the power battery market will usher in new development opportunities. Electric vehicle safety is the focus of consumer attention and a fundamental guarantee for the sustainable and healthy development of the new energy vehicle industry.
Recently, there have been reports of spontaneous combustion accidents of new energy vehicles in China, which has led many in the industry to worry that once summer arrives, the chances of such accidents will increase.
